Moncton Chapter members Mike Murphy and Judy Carlisle took celiac awareness to the Mt. A . campus by participating in the third annual Health Matters Fair organized by the Mount Allison Student Health Centre.Nurse/Educator Cindy Crossman and Secretary Cheryl Mosher, assisted by students from the Health Matters Society, organized the event which saw information displays set up by over 2 dozen organizations and services. The CCA display was visited by those who very aware of gluten-intolerance, as well as by those who had never heard the word celiac before.A Grade 12 biology class from the local high school came as a class assignment and left much better informed.Other valuable contacts were made with dieticians, dental personnel, other exhibitors, and persons who suspected they were celiac but were unaware of the blood test, and who went away determined to get a diagnosis. At the lunch hour, we were delighted to be served gluten-free lunches prepared especially for us.Congratulations to the planners, workers and exhibitors for a successful health awareness event.
